About Norwood, Massachusetts
Norwood is located along U.S. Route 1 approximately 23 miles south of Boston. Originally part of the town of Dedham, Norwood was not officially established until 1872, two hundred years after the first settlers arrived.
There are more than 100 historic sites in Norwood, among them the Oak View mansion and numerous buildings designed by Norwood native William G. Upham.
Norwood is served by MBTA commuter rail, bus, and interstate highways, including I-95.
The town has a significant population for foreign born residents who come primarily from Asia and Eastern Europe. Its principal employers are in the health care, education and retail sect of the economy. The town is known for the many car dealers located along U.S. Route 1.
